INTRO

As the aviation and shipping industry strives to reduce its carbon footprint, the development and adoption of Sustainable Fuels have become crucial to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.

Sustainable fuels, such as biofuels, hydrogen, and synthetic fuels, offer a cleaner alternative to traditional fossil fuels. They play a crucial role in combating climate change, supporting energy security, and promoting sustainable development. The transition to sustainable fuels is vital for a greener, more resilient future, ensuring that we meet our energy needs without compromising the planet’s health.

Synthetic fuels, are produced using electricity to convert CO2 and water into liquid fuels. This process, known as power-to-liquid, leverages renewable energy sources like solar or wind power, making it a sustainable alternative to conventional fuels. Electric fuels can be used in existing infrastructure, from cars to planes, and they help reduce carbon emissions by closing the carbon loop. They represent a promising pathway to decarbonize the energy sector and transition to a more sustainable future.

OUR PROJECT

MCA Sustainable Fuels project focuses on producing sustainable fuels for aviation and shipping industries.

E-Fuels

By using renewable electricity, typically from solar, wind or hydraulic. The green hydrogen obtained from splitting water into hydrogen and oxygen is combined with the captured CO2 in a chemical process to create liquid fuels, like E-SAF, E-methanol or synthetic gasoline. These electro fuels can be used in existing engines and infrastructure, making them a versatile and sustainable energy source. The process closes the carbon loop, transforming emissions into usable energy.

The second stage of the project aims to produce 80 million liters of E-fuel annually.

E_SAF

E-SAF (Electro-Sustainable Aviation Fuel) is a type of sustainable aviation fuel produced using renewable energy sources. It's part of the broader category of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) aimed at reducing the aviation industry's carbon footprint. E-SAF is considered a promising solution for reducing lifecycle carbon emissions in aviation, as it leverages renewable energy and captures CO2 from the atmosphere.

Our renewable energy Sources

1YACYRETA
The Yacyretá Dam spans the Paraná River, situated between the Paraguayan City of Ayolas and the Argentine Province of Corrientes. The dam stretches an impressive 808 meters (2,651 feet) across the river. Its installed equipment boasts a maximum power output of 3,100 megawatts (MW)with a maximum annual power output an astounding 20.091 terawatt-hours (TWh).
2ITAIPU
The Itaipu Dam is situated on the Paraná River, straddling the border between Brazil and Paraguay. With an installed generation capacity of 14 gigawatts (GW), Itaipu ranks as the second-largest operational hydroelectric power plant globally. These turbines harness the immense power of the Paraná River’s flow to generate clean energy. A significant milestone was reached in 2016, setting a new world record with 103.1 million MWh produced in a single year.
